A Jackson County jury on Wednesday convicted Terrell Ingram of the fatal shooting in July 2016 of Malik Barbour in Lee's Summit, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
The jury then recommended that Ingram be sentenced to life without parole on his Murder 1st Degree conviction and an additional term of life in prison for his conviction of Armed Criminal Action. A judge will sentence the defendant at a later date.
Ingram fought with Barbour in the area of the 1500 block of SE Long Place in Lee's Summit. Witnesses told police that Barbour was shot as he got out of a vehicle. The gunman paused, then approached the victim and fired more shots. The suspect then fled as a passenger in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police found Malik Barbour on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
